Realtime graphic effects applied to the concert's live video and displayed on the 500m2 screen. Effects were both 2D and 3D. The latter were built using 3D point cloud data captured in realtime with five Kinects attached to five video cameras — two shoulder cameras, two Canon 5Dii and one miniaturized pole cam.
The video feed of these video cameras was mapped onto the 3D mesh from the kinect. Each kinect/camera pair was calibrated to account for differences in camera lenses and points of view.
•••Everything was done live, without any pre-production, in front of up to 50000+ people per concert. Thirteen dates at twelve of the biggest italian cities and stadiums.
I executed almost every technical aspect of this project: software development, graphical effects, hardware setup, installation, callibration and monitoring for every performance. It was incredibly nerve-racking, very hard work — and loads of fun!
Two large LED screens were installed at the entrance of a temporary exhibition space set to show off the new hybrid models by Toyota in Milano. The client wanted to focus on the concept of two halves of the same body, representing the combustion engine and the electrical engine.
The visual metaphor chosen was that of two images or copies of one's self, displayed on the LED walls as two coloured moments in time separated by just a few seconds. These two 3D shapes corresponding to present and near past were united by moving particles creating one single continuous yet ever-changing mass.
Upon invitation to participate at an exhibit that invoked the topics of recycling and reuse, a playful installation was created to tell a modified version of the cycle of water that everyone learns at school.
Each traditional step of the water cycle story is contaminated in modern times by multiple sources of toxic waste and pollution.
To understand this particular interpretation of the story you had to step backwards and forwards until the sequence of patterns colouring the mirrored projection of your own body made sense.
Of course, if you were a young child, the installation was just colourfully enchanting!
